Majestic Vans was founded in 1982 by Gary Bivins in Saginaw, Michigan, building on his earlier experience operating a Krown Kamper dealership at the same location the company still calls home today. From the outset, the business was grounded in hands-on expertise and a deep understanding of the custom van market.

Throughout the 1980s, Majestic Vans quickly rose to prominence during the height of the conversion van craze. The company became known for its bold, custom designs, offering features such as murals, porthole windows, detailed paneling, and shag carpet interiors that defined the era.

By the early 1990s, Majestic had evolved into an authorized pool converter, working with Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge, and Ford van chassis. With increased OEM recognition and oversight, the company consistently delivered high-quality builds and earned numerous quality awards during this period.

As the popularity of conversion vans declined, Majestic maintained its leadership position by recognizing industry changes and adapting to emerging niche markets. This forward-thinking approach led to a key international collaboration in 2009 with Apollo RV in Brisbane, Australia. Together, they designed and developed a unique Class B touring coach to meet Apollo’s U.S. rental specifications. The result was the Majestic Tourer 2, which served in Apollo’s U.S. rental fleets through 2013.

Another major shift came in 2013 when Ford Motor Company announced the discontinuation of the Ford E-Series van, long considered a primary chassis in both commercial and wheelchair-accessible vehicle markets. Once again, Majestic adapted, transitioning to new platforms such as the Ram ProMaster to continue serving evolving customer needs.

With more than a decade of experience in the wheelchair-accessible vehicle industry, this evolution led to the introduction of the Tempest Sportwagon and Jobsite. Built by Majestic Vans, the Sportwagon and Jobsite combine Tempest’s mobility expertise with Majestic’s proven craftsmanship to deliver a versatile solution for both passenger, commerical and cargo applications.

Today, Majestic Vans remains a family-operated business led by the Bivins family. With over 40 years of custom manufacturing experience, the company continues to operate under its guiding principle: “Quality is Responsible for Sales.”
